Softball Recap: Lonoke Now 10-2 over Last 12 Games

Lonoke had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Southside on Tuesday. The Jackrabbits never let the Southerners get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Considering the Jackrabbits have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendra Terry made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Coraline Spires and Kirsten Holt did most of the damage at the plate: Spires went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double, while Holt got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double. Those three hits gave Spires a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shaniya Jackson, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one run.

Lonoke has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Southside, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.

Lonoke will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Southerners: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
