While losing is never fun, North Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Cathedral is ranked sixth).
When it comes to explaining why North Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaxson Bell. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with six rebounds. The match was Bell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nijah Jewell, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
Cathedral's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keaton Aldridge, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Aldridge's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Sheldon Gatlin was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
North Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Cathedral, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
North Central and Trinity will face off at 6:45 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Cathedral, they will head out on the road to face off against Indianapolis Arsenal Technical at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
