Corn Belt recap November 5, 2013
University added to the longest winning streak in Corn Belt this week by beating MacArthur, 27-6. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Pioneers.
Pontiac fell to Peotone 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Nick Wotton was a bright spot for the Indians, as he ran for 23 yards and caught 3 passes for 38 yards in the defeat.
Joe Kenney threw for 279 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 11-25 with 1 interception.
Arion Worthman was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 138 yards on 19 carries as University bested Manteno. Teammate Niles Smith added to the ground attack by rushing for 68 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Bulldogs' Kenney and Day have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Kenney has thrown for 2,008 yards this season, while Day has 37 catches for 793 yards. Pontiac's Wotton leads the league in rushing yards with 1,422.
Mahomet-Seymour made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,697 from 3,838. The improvement was the result of a 35-13 victory over the Panthers last week.
