The Gibsonburg Golden Bears will head out on the road to square off against the North Baltimore Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Gibsonburg put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 71-50 margin over Woodmore. The victory was familiar territory for Gibsonburg who now have three in a row.
Reece Walby was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. It was the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Morant, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, North Baltimore had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They managed a 48-43 victory over Arcadia.
Gibsonburg's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for North Baltimore, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-10.
Everything came up roses for Gibsonburg against North Baltimore in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 59-30 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gibsonburg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
