Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Loving Falcons, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 57-15 loss at the hands of Santa Rosa on Friday. Loving just can't catch a break and has now endured four defeats in a row.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bobby Parraz, who gained 162 total yards.
Santa Rosa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nicolas Chavez led the charge by rushing for 137 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Chavez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards. Another player making a difference was Aj Romo, who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Loving bumped their record down to 6-4 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Santa Rosa, Texico, and Jal. As for Santa Rosa, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Loving does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Santa Rosa will head out on the road to face off against Texico at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Texico is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
