St. Andrew's Episcopal's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Yazoo County 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Drew McDonald's shutout, as he gave up just a hit.
At the plate, St. Andrew's Episcopal got a massive performance out of Cash Myrick, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of John William Walker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
St. Andrew's Episcopal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Raleigh fell victim to Florence and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 16-0 to the Eagles. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Lions' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Raleigh saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deuce Carter, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
St. Andrew's Episcopal's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Raleigh, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
Raleigh's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Andrew's Episcopal hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. It's a different story for Raleigh, though, as they've only averaged .220. Will they be able to contain St. Andrew's Episcopal's hitters?
