The Bayard Tigers had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-39 victory over Banner County on Saturday. The win was just what Bayard needed coming off of a 67-41 defeat in their prior match.
Bayard got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Connor Cochran out in front who scored 13 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cochran has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sam Ferrero, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Banner County still got an impressive performance from Brendyn Onstott, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals. Nathan Clement was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Bayard's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Banner County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Bayard will be playing at home against Minatare on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Minatare is ranked 257th, while Bayard is ranked 258th). Banner County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Leyton at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
