The McMichael Phoenix will face off against the Morehead Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in McMichael's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Morehead has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
McMichael's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Wednesday, when they got past Walkertown's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Phoenix put the hurt on the Wolfpack with a sharp 13-5 victory. Considering the Phoenix have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lindsay Redmon made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Hopson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Olivia Wilson, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
McMichael kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walkertown only managed eight hits.
Meanwhile, Morehead fell victim to Walkertown and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Wolfpack by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since March 3rd.
Saillie Aheron spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits.
McMichael is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Morehead, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
Everything went McMichael's way against Morehead in their previous matchup back in March, as McMichael made off with a 9-2 victory. Will the Phoenix repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
