The Aquinas Institute Little Irish will square off against the Wayne Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Aquinas Institute's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Wayne's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Monday, Aquinas Institute was able to grind out a solid victory over Northstar Christian Academy, taking the game 5-1. The Little Irish haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Kendall Buttles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Riley Madigan was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Delaney Buttles, who earned one run and two stolen bases.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Wayne nor Greece Odyssey made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Leopards a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Aquinas Institute, Wayne also got a great game from a two-way player: Myia Eskander. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Eskander was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jessy Newmyer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Zoe Eaton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Wayne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.6.
Wayne has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Aquinas Institute, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Aquinas Institute couldn't quite finish off Wayne in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 14-12. Will the Little Irish have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
