The Berean Academy Eagle will head out on the road to face off against the Victory Baptist Academy Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Berean Academy has four straight victories, Victory Baptist Academy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Berean Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Oakwood Christian 46-14 at home. Given Berean Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 103rd in Tennessee, while Oakwood Christian is ranked 412th in Georgia), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Austen Harvey was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Daniel Wigginton was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Victory Baptist Academy lost to Woodland Baptist Christian on the road by a decisive 66-52 margin on Friday.
Berean Academy's victory bumped their season record to 4-0 while Oakwood Christian's loss dropped theirs to 3-5.
Berean Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Victory Baptist Academy in their previous meeting back in February, but they still walked away with a 58-52 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Berean Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
