The Lincoln High Links's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Lincoln Southeast on the road and fell 78-50. While losing is never fun, Lincoln High can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Lincoln Southeast is ranked 39th).
Lincoln High's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Nick, who scored 12 points. Anania Ruba was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Taye Moore was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals for Lincoln Southeast. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Hilkemann, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Lincoln High has fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 2-10. As for Lincoln Southeast, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Lincoln High will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Fremont at 5:15 p.m. Fremont will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Lincoln Southeast, they will head out on the road to square off against Lincoln East at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lincoln East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
