The Regents Lions are taking a road trip to take on The Covenant Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Regents made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ridgeview Christian, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lions were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Crusaders on Tuesday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.
Paul Duval made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Duval was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Amalfitano, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Joseph Porter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, The Covenant got the win against Hargrave Military Academy on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Latham Clark and Phillip Venton did most of the damage at the plate: Clark went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double, while Venton scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Pariseau, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
The Covenant hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.
Regents' record is now 7-4. As for The Covenant, their record now sits at 8-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Regents has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like The Covenant struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Regents suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to The Covenant in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
