Oak Harbor is 9-1 against Genoa Area since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Rockets will be playing at home against the Comets at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Oak Harbor will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Perkins on Thursday. The Rockets blew past the Pirates 15-1. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Morgan Lalonde made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Lalonde was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Oak Harbor got a massive performance out of Allie Giezie, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI. Those five RBI gave Giezie a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hannah Schimmoeller, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Oak Harbor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perkins only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Genoa Area, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They put the hurt on Fostoria with a sharp 15-5 victory on Wednesday. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Redmen recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Izzy Britt, who scored three runs and stole two bases. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Izzy West was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Oak Harbor's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Genoa Area, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Genoa Area's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Oak Harbor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .396. It's a different story for Genoa Area, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Oak Harbor's hitters?
Oak Harbor came out on top in a nail-biter against Genoa Area in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
