The Saranac Redhawks and the Saugatuck Trailblazers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Saranac Redhawks had to settle for second. The matchup between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Saranac falling 42-27.
Saugatuck got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Will Doucette out in front who rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Matthew Hartgerink also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Saranac has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Saugatuck, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Saranac does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Saugatuck will look to defend their home field on Friday against White Pigeon at 7:00 p.m. White Pigeon will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
