The LaPoynor Flyers are taking a road trip to take on the Cayuga Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cayuga will be up against a hot LaPoynor squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went the Flyers' way against Cross Roads on Friday as they made off with a 14-4 win.

Cobi Diepenbruck was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for LaPoynor: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Budgell, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
LaPoynor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cayuga challenged Kerens last Thursday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 16-2 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wildcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Cash Conner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Conner was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Cayuga let Gus Wilfong and Jesse Wilfong run wild. Gus went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Jesse went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Jesse has posted since back in March. Caiden Lightfoot was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
LaPoynor's record is now 14-11. As for Cayuga, their record now sits at 17-8.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. LaPoynor has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .497. However, it's not like Cayuga struggles in that department as they've averaged .461. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
LaPoynor skirted past Cayuga 5-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Flyers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
