The Portal Panthers came tearing into Tuesday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Savannah Classical Academy 80-32 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-14.
Portal's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Thomas led the charge by scoring 15 points along with six steals. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Elijah Coleman, who scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals.
Portal's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Savannah Classical Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Portal will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. McIntosh County Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Savannah Classical Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. Averaging 67.14 points so far this season, Coastal HomeSchool's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Spartans better be ready for a challenge.
