West Iredell is 1-9 against Statesville since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The West Iredell Warriors will head out to face off against the Statesville Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in West Iredell's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.
West Iredell will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating East Lincoln, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. West Iredell came out on top against East Lincoln by a score of 69-56 on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while the Mustangs are ranked 125th).

Jordan Patterson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 11 for 17 en route to 30 points in addition to six boards and four steals. His evening made it 20 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jermaine Cornelius was another key player, going 6 of 7 on his way to 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Statesville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 70-60 victory over Foard on Friday.
Statesville's win came from a few key players West Iredell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kevin Bryant, who went 9 for 15 en route to 18 points and six boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Manuel (MJ) Gladden, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.
Statesville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.
Statesville has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for West Iredell, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as West Iredell and Statesville are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. West Iredell hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 72.4 points per game. However, it's not like Statesville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.4 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
West Iredell couldn't quite finish off Statesville when the teams last played back in January and fell 78-76. Can West Iredell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
