Basketball Recap: Millard South Comes Up Short

Millard South lost against Papillion-LaVista back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Patriots fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 71-69.

When it comes to explaining why Millard South lost, don't look at Carter Margheim. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 28 points and 11 boards. Margheim's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Koby Meyers, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 13 points and six rebounds.

Papillion-LaVista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sam Boudreau led the charge by shooting 42% from the field on his way to 19 points. Bryce Vigness was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten boards.

Millard South's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Papillion-LaVista, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Millard South will venture away from home to challenge Bellevue East at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Papillion-LaVista, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Bellevue West at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
