Ocoee gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They really took it to the Apopka Blue Darters for the full four quarters, racking up a 47-0 win. The Knights were shut out 10-0 the last time they took on the Blue Darters, so the Knights were just returning the favor.
Ocoee was led to victory by Damar'Eon Cawthon and Jayden Safford. Cawthon picked up 74 receiving yards and two TDs, while Safford rushed for 26 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Cawthon was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 50 yards.
Ocoee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kendric Cidel and Dariyon Gordon. Cidel got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Ocoee wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 30-16 victory against Olympia on the 29th. As for Apopka, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 35-0 loss against Evans on the 29th.
