The River Forest Ingots are taking a road trip to face off against the Hammond Central Wolves at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. On the hitting side, Kailey Gott was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mila Soto, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs, one triple, and one RBI.
River Forest hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Hammond Central came up short against Hammond Morton on Thursday and fell 6-3.
Hammond Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raven Jo Floyd, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
River Forest's record is now 4-9. As for Hammond Central, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. River Forest has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. However, it's not like Hammond Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .495. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
