The South Allegheny Gladiators suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Quaker Valley by a score of 54-51. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as South Allegheny came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Quaker Valley is ranked 312th).
Quaker Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dana Kromah, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Kromah also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Washington, who scored 21 points.
South Allegheny's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Quaker Valley, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
South Allegheny will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against East Allegheny at 7:00 p.m. East Allegheny is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Quaker Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Montour at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
