The Fullerton Warriors will head out to challenge the Twin River Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fullerton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.5 points per game this season.
Fullerton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Archangels Catholic, who was ranked tenth at the time (Fullerton was ranked 25th). The Warriors received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 55-41 to the Defenders. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Fullerton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jakob Supik, who posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists, and Kane Wetovick, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. Wetovick is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Maxfield, who earned nine points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Twin River ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past McCool Junction 59-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Titans have posted since January 28th.
Twin River's win came from a few key players Fullerton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Colsten Rodriguez, who had 16 points. Corbin Rodriguez was another key player, shooting 40% from the field en route to 17 points and six assists.
The win made it two in a row for Twin River and bumps their season record up to 3-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. As for Fullerton, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Fullerton has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Twin River struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 25.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Fullerton was able to grind out a solid win over Twin River when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 63-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
