The Windham Whippets will be playing in front of their home fans against the New London Whalers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Windham had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They blew past Killingly 61-32 at home. That's two games straight that Windham has won by exactly 29 points.
Windham's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Asihja Harris, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Flores, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, New London came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 73-36 win over Waterford on the road. 73 seems to be a good number for New London as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Windham's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for New London, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Windham took a serious blow against the Whalers when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 64-30. Can Windham avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
