Fernley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last six games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Dayton Dust Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fernley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Dayton likes a good challenge.
Fernley put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Lowry 66-33 at home. Given Fernley's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Lowry is ranked 54th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fernley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryce Dunagan-Stephens, who scored 16 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheldon Jacobson, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Dayton suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Churchill County 60-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Dayton has suffered against Churchill County since January 4, 2019.
Fernley pushed their record up to 18-2 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.93 points. As for Dayton, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Fernley against Dayton in their previous matchup on January 5th as the team secured a 70-43 win. With Fernley ahead 47-16 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
