Phoenix School of Academic Excellence's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 52-44 to Brighton Charter.
Brighton Charter had a senior duo take command as Dylan Mastrapasqua scored 14 points and Jadyn Mark scored 15 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mastrapasqua has scored at least 25% of Brighton Charter's points. Jaziel Nunez was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Phoenix School of Academic Excellence's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-5. As for Brighton Charter, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoenix School of Academic Excellence's homestand continues as they prepare to take on BASIS - Mesa at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Hopefully BASIS - Mesa focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday. As for Brighton Charter, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ville de Marie Academy at 5:00 p.m. Ville de Marie Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brighton Charter in Arizona (Ville de Marie Academy is ranked 111th, while Brighton Charter is ranked 305th).
