Pharr-San Juan-Alamo is 7-2 against Weslaco since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bears will face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Weslaco will be up against a hot Pharr-San Juan-Alamo team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Bears were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over Economedes on Friday. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly 12 runs.
Jacob Delgadillo was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo got a massive performance out of Zeke Garza, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave Garza a new career-high. Matt Azuara also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Weslaco took on Edinburg North on Friday. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 10-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won three matchups in a row.
The result came thanks to Diego Castillo's shutout, as he gave up just a hit.
On the hitting side, Toby Perez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Avel Salinas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Weslaco's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, their record is now 19-2-1.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .506. However, it's not like Weslaco struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo skirted past Weslaco 4-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
