This season hasn't been kind to the Independence Patriots, who are still winless after their fourth game. They were dealt a 61-7 loss at the hands of Arizona College Prep on Wednesday. Independence lost against Arizona College Prep in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 72-14 score last time.
Arizona College Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mikell Van Arsdale out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 steals. Jaylee Aulds was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with 3 steals.
Independence bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Arizona College Prep, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Independence will head out on the road to face off against Sierra Linda at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sierra Linda comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Arizona College Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Flowing Wells at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Flowing Wells is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
