The Omaha North Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Columbus with points to spare, taking the game 78-63. The win was familiar territory for Omaha North who now have nine in a row.
Omaha North found their leader in underclassman Jerri'on Williams, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mynor Strong, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Columbus lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Quinn Freshour, who scored 17 points. Griffin Micek was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Omaha North's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Columbus, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Omaha North's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Packers at 7:15 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Omaha South focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Wednesday. As for Columbus, they will head out on the road to square off against the Silver Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln Southwest presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Discoverers in Nebraska (the Silver Hawks are ranked 65th, while the Discoverers are ranked 210th).
