After a string of five wins, the Bennett Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arvada. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Bennett came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Arvada is ranked 318th).
When it comes to explaining why Bennett lost, one person who can't be blamed is Owen Stiers. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stiers has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Stiers, who scored eight points.
Bennett's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Arvada, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.
Bennett will take on Platte Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Arvada, they will head out on the road to square off against Sheridan at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sheridan is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
