The Wendover Wildcats waltzed into their contest Thursday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They ended the year with a bang, routing Bryce Valley 74-54. The result was nothing new for Wendover, who have now won three contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Wendover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raul Valle led the charge by scoring 23 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Valle pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawn Duboise, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Wendover's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 16.67 points. As for Bryce Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wendover won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Beaver at 7:00 p.m. on December 29th. Bryce Valley and El Capitan/Centennial Academy will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully El Capitan/Centennial Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Saturday.
