The Holly Wildcats suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were outmatched by Granada at home and fell 53-21. Holly was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Granada apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Josie Kissell was Holly's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Idaly Rodriquez held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Granada had a senior duo take command as Mariah Sigala scored 26 points along with five rebounds and two steals and Marissa Valenzuela scored eight points along with 16 steals and seven assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sigala has scored all season. Another player making a difference was ToriLin Riddle, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Holly now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Granada, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holly will take on Las Animas at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Granada, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Kit Carson at 4:00 p.m. Hopefully Kit Carson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
