The Windsor Wizards had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.4 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They took down Longmont 56-38. Given Windsor's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Trojans are ranked 79th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Windsor was led to victory by Madden Smiley and Brady Kingsley. Smiley scored 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Kingsley scored 19 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Johnnie Reed, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cole Corner, who scored 13 points. Levi Scheck was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Windsor is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Longmont, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
Windsor will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Spartans at 1:00 p.m. Greeley West is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. As for Longmont, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Greeley Central is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
