Two dominant guards in Haley Ricketts and MacKenzie Dumbuya are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bethany Wolves will head out on the road to square off against the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bethany focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Bethany didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Cornerstone Charter, but they still walked away with a 34-30 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bethany.
Braelyn Pennix and Mattie Southard were among the main playmakers for Bethany as the former scored five points along with seven rebounds and seven steals and the latter scored 18 points along with five steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Hattiejo Hopper, who scored four points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to College Prep & Leadership Academy, who are still winless after their 13th contest. They took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Asheboro Hybrid Academy.
Bethany has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-13 record this season. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, their defeat was their 11th straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-13.
Bethany was able to grind out a solid win over College Prep & Leadership Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 70-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bethany since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
