The Willapa Valley Vikings lost against the Ilwaco Fishermen back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Willapa Valley fell 53-42 to Ilwaco. Willapa Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Willapa Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rilyn Channell, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Channell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Merkel, who scored ten points.
Willapa Valley has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Ilwaco, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Willapa Valley will take on Mossyrock at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Mossyrock is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. As for Ilwaco, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against North Beach at 5:45 p.m.
