The Miami Vandals will face off against the Ray Bearcats at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Miami will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Duncan on Thursday. The Vandals were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Wildkats. That looming 13-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vandals yet this season.
Ethan Guthrey spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mathew Zamora was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. Alex Doss was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ray). They blew past San Simon 28-1 on Saturday. Considering the Bearcats have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Jaxon Cude, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Ray's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Warren, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Ray was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Ray's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Miami, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Miami came out on top in a nail-biter against Ray in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 13-11. Do the Vandals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bearcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
