Basketball Recap: Wheatland-Grinnell Skates Past Northern Valley with Ease

Wheatland-Grinnell had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed by the Northern Valley Huskies to the tune of 62-31. The Thunderhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 30 points or more this season.

Wheatland-Grinnell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marissa Beckman, who went 7 of 11 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Beckman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Emily Hrabe also deserves some recognition as she pulled down her first rebound of the season.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooke Preston, who posted four points and six boards. Jaycee Gebhard was another key player, putting up four points in addition to 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Wheatland-Grinnell has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Northern Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Wheatland-Grinnell has already played their next match (against Western Plains), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
