While Columbus might've come up empty on Thursday, Samuel Alonso wasn't going down without a fight. Alonso turned in nothing short of a gem, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
