Brody Grimes tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Dylan Salsbery was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chip Clooney, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Buena couldn't beat Wildwood on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Chiefs fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 9-7. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jaevon Alexander was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Aden Vai made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Richie Wilson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Buena's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Egg Harbor Township, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Egg Harbor Township has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Buena struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Egg Harbor Township got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 against Buena by a conclusive 9-2 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Chiefs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
