The Polo Panthers lost against the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers back in February of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Polo fell to Wellington-Napoleon 35-30. It was the first time this season that Polo let down their fans at home.
Wellington-Napoleon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corinna Utterback, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Charelsie Lamphier, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Polo's defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3. As for Wellington-Napoleon, their win bumped their record up to 7-15.
Polo will head out on the road to face off against Lathrop at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 1-0 victory vs. Orrick on the 9th.
