The Largo Packers were the 81-63 winner over the Northeast Vikings when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Largo was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 76-75 to Northeast. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (57), Largo still had to take the loss.
Largo lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jeremy Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Kepler, who scored 19 points.
Even though they lost, Largo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northeast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luis Ruiz, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Dominic Brown was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with four steals.
Largo's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Northeast, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Largo will be playing in front of their home fans against Pinellas Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pinellas Park is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Northeast, they will head out on the road to take on Gibbs at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gibbs presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Northeast in Florida (Gibbs is ranked 35th, while Northeast is ranked 253rd).
