Marquette Catholic extended the longest winning streak in Prairie State this week by beating Nokomis/Ramsey/Lincolnwood, 52-48. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Explorers.
The Redskins' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Luke Hamlin threw for 94 and one touchdown and Ray Lovelace had 84 yards receiving. On the ground Austin Chausse chipped in 141 yards. Christian Randel helped Nokomis/Ramsey/Lincolnwood's passing attack out by catching two balls for 10 yards.
Nokomis/Ramsey/Lincolnwood's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Redskins feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hamlin has thrown for 541 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Lovelace has 13 catches for 221 yards. Chausse leads the league in rushing with 754 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Nokomis/Ramsey/Lincolnwood takes on Metro-East Lutheran. The Redskins' offense has scored 302 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Knights have allowed only 303 on the year.
A big matchup in Prairie State this week will be when Marquette Catholic takes on Decatur Lutheran. Tim Nelson's team is in second place, while the Lions are in fifth place.
The Explorers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,685 from 6,220. The improvement was the result of 52-48 victory over Nokomis/Ramsey/Lincolnwood last week.
