Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dan River). They were the clear victors by a 22-4 margin over Bassett on Wednesday. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Cara Barrett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenley Cundiff, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Anna Campbell Stoler was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Dan River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.
