For the first time this season, Englewood will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the Bennett Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Englewood and Thornton, and Englewood kept the tradition alive. Englewood was the clear victor by a 14-4 margin over Thornton on Monday.
Rj Cullyford and Bobby Garcia were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Cullyford pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garcia pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Cullyford went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI, while Garcia scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Englewood let Ethan Lort and Desean Smith run wild. Lort scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Smith scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Lort a new career-high.
Englewood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thornton only posted a batting average of .273.
Meanwhile, Bennett posted their closest win since April 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Valley, sneaking past 7-5. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Evan Dear was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Those hits marked the first that he got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rafael Ibarra, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.
Bennett's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Englewood, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Bennett's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Englewood has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. It's a different story for Bennett, though, as they've only averaged .342. Will they be able to contain Englewood's hitters?
Englewood might still be hurting after the 18-10 defeat they got from Bennett in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Englewood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
