Mancelona is 8-2 against Central Lake since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Mancelona Ironmen will look to defend their home court against the Central Lake Trojans at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mancelona has six straight victories, Central Lake has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mancelona posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 65-12 win over Forest Area on the road. Given Mancelona's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Forest Area is ranked 688th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Central Lake pushed their score all the way to 70 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 80-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of Inland Lakes.
Mancelona's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Central Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
Mancelona was able to grind out a solid victory over Central Lake in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 54-42. Will Mancelona repeat their success, or does Central Lake have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
