The Southeastern Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 56-48 to Westfall. While losing is never fun, Southeastern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while Westfall is ranked 143rd).
Despite the loss, Southeastern still got an impressive performance from Lane Williams, who scored 11 points along with five assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Joey Pfieffer, who scored eight points.
Southeastern's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Westfall, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Southeastern will head out on the road to face off against Huntington at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Westfall will be home for the holidays to greet Paint Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Paint Valley and Westfall are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
