It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Tiftarea Academy Panthers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 49-27 margin over St. Andrew's. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Tiftarea Academy.
John Robert Walker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 175 yards and four touchdowns on only seven passes. John Jackson was another key contributor, picking up 146 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charles Strain, who rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Richaard Williams, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Tiftarea Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-7-1. As for St. Andrew's, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing John Milledge Academy the next time they take the field. Tiftarea Academy will head out to face John Milledge Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Tiftarea Academy will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m.
