The South Wake Sabres and the St. David's Warriors will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in South Wake's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests.
Even though Chatham HomeSchool scored an imposing 66 points on Friday, South Wake still came out on top. South Wake walked away with a 73-66 win over Chatham HomeSchool. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, as South Wake did.
Ira Wilson was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Santos, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
St. David's suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were dealt a 95-56 loss at the hands of Greenfield. While losing is never fun, St. David's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while Greenfield is ranked 35th).
South Wake's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-7. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 25.27 points. As for St. David's, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.
Everything went South Wake's way against St. David's in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as South Wake made off with a 64-44 victory. Will South Wake repeat their success, or does St. David's have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
