Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Scotland Fighting Scots, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 45-44 to the Knights. Despite 188 more yards than Northern Nash, Scotland couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the loss, Scotland still got an impressive performance from Zay Jones, who rushed for 248 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Jones really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Another player making a difference was Dajuan Gibson, who picked up 152 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Northern Nash can attribute much of their success to Dywhaun Mitchell, who rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown.
Scotland's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Northern Nash, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Scotland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Northern Nash will head out on the road to face off against Havelock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Havelock will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
