Even though The Frenship Tigers have not done well against the San Angelo Central Bobcats recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Frenship came out on top against San Angelo Central by a score of 41-34. Given Frenship's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 47th, while San Angelo Central is ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Frenship got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hudson Hutcheson out in front who threw for 413 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.8% of his passes. Hutcheson hasn't dropped below 300 passing yards for six straight games. Leyton Stone also helped out as he racked up 123 receiving yards.
When it comes to explaining why San Angelo Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Christian English. Despite the final result, he rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns. English was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Tyree Brawley was in the mix as well, providing San Angelo Central with two touchdowns.
The victory was the third in a row for Frenship, bringing their record for this year to 8-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for San Angelo Central, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Frenship will head out on the road to face off against Eastwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastwood will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. San Angelo Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
