The Smiths Station Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. Their rough 68-46 defeat to Auburn might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Smiths Station can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Auburn is ranked 15th).
Auburn's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Griffin Mclean, who scored ten points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Mclean grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tabari Allen, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Smiths Station has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Auburn, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 19-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smiths Station will take on Central at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. As for Auburn, they will be playing at home against Opelika at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
